Shift Parenting Burnout

As I was dropping my boys off from school this morning, I stopped and chatted with one of the other moms who I hadn’t seen in awhile. I asked how their Thanksgiving was and she said it was so nice to spend time with family and have some days off work. She then proceeded to say how nice it would be to have more time for family on a regular basis. How she wished our pace was slower. And why are we all grinding away at our jobs watching our kids grow up too quickly.

This deeply resonated with me and my response was, ‘we can.’ We can change this. We don’t need to live this way anymore. Change happens within each of us. Within our own hearts. Within our soul yearnings.

This mom’s reflections were profound as they were hitting on something deeply innate in our culture that we are all desiring to shift within our own hearts.

Who says we can’t have a world that looks totally different. We make our realities. The collective consciousness makes our realities. So let’s shift this. And this starts within our own hearts and blooms out to our community.

We don’t need to live in states of stress, overwhelm, rushing around, grinding, driving, striving. If it’s a generation that understands this it’s millennial parents. I read an article the other day that talked about how millennial parents are the generation that is putting in more healing work than any generation previously. They are embodying more of the compassionate, hands-on, truly demanding parenting that listens and honors their children as unique capable beautiful souls that they are. But this is hard work. They are healing generations of patterns, they are healing their wounded inner child, they are transcending wounds and karmic hurts, all while ringing in a new age of very hands-on parenting while working full time. It’s a lot. And a lot of parents are feeling the burnout from this.

But the burnout is there for a reason. It’s a flashing sign saying this structure, this system is no longer working. It’s time to shift. It’s time to shift to lives that are filled with more time for family, more joy, slower paced lives filled with peace and love, alignment to our true values, loving flow and creativity. True freedom and space to blossom as individuals, as parents, as colleagues and as community members.

We don’t need to keep grinding. We don’t need to keep hustling. That era is done.

Follow your heart. Listen to what it says. And head it’s call for a life that you love.
